If you have curls, the big worry is understandable: will a keratin treatment flatten my curls completely? The short answer is no — but what you get depends on your hair and what you ask for. Here's what to expect.
What keratin does to curly hair
A keratin treatment coats and smooths the hair, which on curly hair means your curls become looser, softer and much less frizzy — easier to style, quicker to dry, and far more manageable in humidity. It's not a relaxer: standard keratin relaxes curls rather than removing them, so you keep movement unless you specifically want it straighter.
Tell your stylist your goal — "keep my curls but kill the frizz" gives a very different result from "as smooth as possible."
Keratin vs nanoplasty for curls
For looser waves and curls, keratin works beautifully. For very curly, coarse or Afro-textured hair, we often recommend nanoplasty instead — it's formaldehyde-free and tends to give a smoother, more natural finish on tighter curl patterns. (For these hair types, nanoplasty and permanent straightening are priced individually.)

Aftercare for curly hair
Curly hair loves moisture, so keep up your conditioner and masks, use a sulfate-free shampoo, and wash less often to protect the result. See our aftercare guide and how to fix frizzy hair for more.
